How to pick the right size for matching kid and parent tees
· Monstees
Matching tees are one of the sweetest ways to say "we're a team". But twinning only works if both of you are comfy. A tee that's too tight on your toddler or too boxy on you ends up at the back of the cupboard. Here's how we'd pick sizes for the whole gang.
Start with the little one
Our kids' tees come in age bands: 0–12M, 12–23M, 24–35M and 36–47M for babies and toddlers, then 5, 7, 9, 11 and 13 years for bigger kids. Age is a starting point, not a rule. Kids grow at their own speed, so:
- Measure a tee that already fits well. Lay it flat and measure across the chest (armpit to armpit) and from shoulder to hem. Compare it with the size chart on the product page.
- Between sizes? Go up. A little extra room means more months of wear, and a slightly roomy tee looks relaxed, not sloppy.
- Think about the season. For layering under a sweater in winter, true-to-size works best. For loose summer wear, sizing up is cosy and cool.
Then pick yours
Grown-ups usually know their size, but twinning photos look best when both tees have the same easy fit. If you like a relaxed look, size up one. If you prefer a neat fit, stay true to size. Check the product page size chart, because fits can differ between styles.
Tips for twinning that actually works
- Order both at once. Prints and colours are easiest to match when they come from the same batch.
- Wash them together. Same water, same cycle, so both tees age the same way. Our next post covers how to keep prints bright.
- Let your kid choose the monster. They're far more likely to wear it (and you're far more likely to get that photo).
Still unsure?
Message us with your child's age, height and how they like their clothes to fit, and we'll help you choose. Picking a size shouldn't be harder than picking a monster.
